Reducing The Risk OF Periodontal Surgery

When you’re diagnosed with periodontal disease, surely your dentist will recommend a periodontal disease treatment. There are several options available and each option varies with the patient’s condition. Periodontal surgery is one of the options that can reduce the serious dental and medical effects of untreated periodontal surgery. It is necessary when the tissues around the teeth are already unhealthy and cannot be corrected with non- surgical treatments. Scaling and root planting are the primary treatment for periodontal disease combined with superior oral care to keep bacteria deposits from accumulating, however sometimes it is not enough to get rid of the infection thus periodontal surgery is necessary.

Periodontal surgery is necessary to control periodontal disease. With daily removal of plaque which causes the periodontal disease, teeth and gums becomes healthy. However, when periodontal disease has already progressed and bacteria already spread below the gumline affecting the gum tissues and the bones, home treatments won’t be effective and periodontal surgery may be necessary. If not treated, bone loss can happen and painful abscesses and tooth loose. And eventually tooth may fall out.
